#010 - Using The 80/20 Principle To Optimise Your Design Business

Uncategorized Sep 21, 2019

What is the 80/20 Principle? By the numbers, it means that 80 percent of your outcomes come from 20 percent of your inputs. As Pareto demonstrated with his research this “rule” holds true, in a very rough sense, to an 80/20 ratio, however in many cases, the ratio can be a lot higher – 99/1 may be closer to reality. It really doesn’t matter what numbers you apply, the important thing to understand is that in your life there are certain activities you do (your 20 percent) that account for the majority (your 80 percent) of your happiness and outputs.

On today's episode, Patrick explains how to apply the 80/20 principle to each of the most vital areas of your design business.

Some highlights from this episode:

  • Using the 80/20 principle with your positioning
  • Using the 80/20 principle with your marketing efforts
  • Using the 80/20 principle with your daily time allocation

#008 - Don't Sell Your Design Services: Sell The Next Step

Uncategorized Sep 18, 2019

Marketing and sales is the only difference between the top 1% of design businesses and the bottom 1%. All successful businesses understand that your job is only to sell when it is time to sell, and for 95% of the design prospects journey into learning about your business, it just isn’t that time yet. Your marketing and sales systems should be built on the idea that we only need to advance our prospects one tiny micro-commitment at a time.
